Large Developments
Here are examples of just four of our large scale projects, including renovation, but also a demolition and new build.
Chantry View Road – Guildford
This project involved a complete renovation and extension for a large property in a highly sought after area of Guildford. The entire house was stripped back to a shell with many of the downstairs walls being reconfigured and all plumbing and wiring renewed. The multiple levels of the house made this project very interesting as it allowed for a guest suite to be added in the lowest level, and a kids playroom or den to be added in the highest room above the bedroom level.
New contemporary Velfac windows and doors were obtained for the whole property and new openings were made to highlight the fantastic views south of Guildford. The master bedroom has a superb Juliet balcony which look straight onto Guildford Chantry in the distance. A large open plan kitchen dining area was added to allow for all the family to be in the same living space together.
Outside a new terrace was created and raised flower beds added. The pool was maintained and adapted into the scope of the new outside entertaining area. A new driveway was laid and a few minor changes to the surrounding garden were added to complete this property.
Wonersh Park
This project was a complete renovation and extension of a tired property in the very desirable area of Wonersh Park. The whole house was rewired and re-plumbed with the existing garage being adopted into the new footprint of the main house. All the windows and doors were replaced with modern factory finished timber windows. The room layout was completely changed to allow for 4 spacious bedrooms, including a grand Master bedroom with an en-suite and dressing room. The existing garage was slightly extended and made into a guest bedroom with shared bathroom as well as a utility room and boot room area.
A beautiful new oak framed garage was added. The whole garden and front driveway were remodelled with a freestanding pergola added and new flowerbeds in the back garden. A new driveway was laid out with bespoke flowerbeds to the side and front with a new drive surface. The project took just over 6 months to complete.
Swanthorpe Barn – Crondall
This was an incredibly unique and complex project. Completely gutting an old barn and renovating the entire property to modern standards adding renewable energy sources throughout, including a swimming pool renovation. All windows and doors were changed to modern factory finished units.
The whole house was stripped back to bare walls and old timbers which were shot blasted and kept visible. The scale of the project and care it took to adapt such an old building into a modern home meant this project took close to 12 months, but was completed on budget and on time.
(Some clients request that we don’t include images of their beautiful new interiors. We respect that everyone should cherish their privacy and so we don’t include interior shots here).

Blackheath Cottage – Blackheath Village
This very large 6 bedroom property was originally built in 1901. The house, with its commanding position in the village of Blackheath, was completely renovated and extended to suit the new owner’s needs. Spread over three floors the house was opened up with new structural steel work added, and a large atrium joining two floors previously inaccessible to each other. The roof was completely reconstructed with local Keymer tiles and lead roofs in the style of the surrounding buildings. All internal fittings including doors, staircases and other joinery were custom made for this property. The specification and finishes in this house are second to none and our client was extremely happy with the result.

Churt – near Hindhead
Due to its location, this project proved to be a challenge when it came to access for equipment, materials and plant.
The whole house was gutted and remodeled adding a new staircase and re-arranging practically every room downstairs to include a breakfast area with atrium, large family living area and new kitchen. This project has the traditional style throughout and fits in marvelously well with the surrounding rural countryside, whilst still furnished with modern luxuries like under-floor heating and LED lamps throughout.
The exterior was reworked with new render and the garden was landscaped and reseeded after the work. The exterior areas were left looking beautifully mature, as if they had always been there.
Shere, Surrey – Re-design and Rebuild
Our clients were unable to attain planning permission to change this old country house set in the Surrey Hills in Shere, so we had to work very closely with our architects drawing up plans to re-design and modernize. Works included the addition of new supporting buttresses, completely stripping out the old house of all of its original plumbing and wiring and in some rooms completely changing the room size and layout.
As the house needed to accommodate a family we had to re-configure all of the first floor to allow for a more comfortable set-up with each bedroom tailored to the each member of the family. The old ground floor corridor, connecting the two wings of the house, was removed and replaced by large glazed panels supported by large Oak posts.
This stunning period house now has a very contemporary look to go with the new kitchen, bathrooms and new floors and decorating throughout. We also re-landscaped the back garden, adding a double garage-shed and a large wood store to the side of the existing barn. The driveway was re-finished with new curbs stones and a new layer of tarmac which is offset nicely by the new light paintwork on the exterior of the house. The total length of time for this project was 7 months.
Loxwood Village, West Sussex – Re-design and Rebuild
This large country house presented a welcome challenge as our clients wanted to modernize the existing building to allow for a larger kitchen and family area together with changing the exterior appearance of the house.
We added a large boot-room and extended the kitchen and dining area. We also added a large family lounge off the kitchen accessible through double doors giving the downstairs a very pleasant family setting.
Outside we demolished the existing patio and added a further 75 square meters and wall at the rear. A new bi-folding door was added which opens out onto the patio for the hot Summer nights and 3 lantern lights were added on the new flat roof above the extended dinning area. The addition of patterned tiles on the tile hanging re-vamped the outside of the building adding a lovely detail to the already attractive house.
This work took around 6 months to complete and the result is a very attractive and family orientated property.
Worplesdon – Demolition and Rebuild
This is a high specification house is in an exclusive area of Surrey. It covers an area over 6000sq ft. The original chalet bungalow was demolished and this substantial timber frame house erected. The house includes 6 en-suite bathrooms with 2 lounges and a large open plan kitchen area which looks down the garden towards the tennis court.
Set in 2 acres of leafy Surrey woodland the garden backs onto Brookwood common and Pirbright village. The house also boasts a self-contained flat above the double garage and one on the 2nd floor with plenty of parking space outside.
